4 Ways To Prepare For The Holiday Season NOW

HOLD THE PHONE. It’s October 1st… 👀 As full-time social media marketers, we know what this means… the holiday season is right around the corner! At our last few meetings, the Insight Social team has already been brainstorming cool holiday photoshoot concepts for the brands we work with, how we can get it all done with our sanity intact, and actually get to spend the holidays with our family this year. Yes, even social media managers need the holidays off. While brainstorming these ideas, we decided to share a few helpful tips to help YOU prepare for the holiday season with the least amount of stress as possible.

Tip #1: Nail down your holiday offerings, right now.

It may be only October, but deciding what specials (if any) you’re going to run for the holiday season is the first step to creating your holiday marketing plan, so take a day and decide.

Tip #2: Make a list of all your campaign ideas.

Good, bad, ugly. Write them all down on a sheet of paper, along with any bullet points that will help you visualize what this campaign would look like if it was put out into the world. Marinate on those ideas for a few days and decide on which campaigns you want to proceed with.

Tip #3: Make a list of all the creative elements you’ll need to make these campaigns come to life.

Will you need influencers? Graphics? How many photoshoots? What kind of props will you need for the photoshoots? What kind of email marketing campaigns will you be writing? Put everything down (and we mean everything) that you’ll need to nail this campaign.

Tip #4: Ensure that all your systems (including website promo codes, customer service, and logistics) are all ready for the increase in holiday traffic.

Have ever tried to buy something from a brand during a new launch or promo sale and the website crashed? Take precautions now to ensure that doesn’t happen to you. You’ll also want to make sure that your website copy and your social copy reflect the same promotions, or else it could wind up being a customer service nightmare (especially for your SMM answering your DMS).
