5 Ways To Set Your Brand Apart This Holiday Season

As Social Media Managers, we’ve been working closely with our clients for months outlining strategies for the 2020 Holiday Season, as it’s very different than previous years. With store-front retail closures and tighter budgets, brands everywhere are realizing that normal holiday marketing tactics may not cut it this year. While we can’t offer up a “one-size-fits-all” strategy for you in this blog post, we can highlight 5 ways to help set your brand apart this holiday season.

#1: Get Your Customer Service In Check

Have a plan for customer service/product questions asked through comments/DMs. Who will respond? What's the deadline for response time? It’s helpful during the holidays (and year-round) to have a set of “Quick Replies” for Instagram DMs to common questions because no one wants to type the same response 14623 times.

#2: Ensure That All Accounts Are Up To Date

Do you run holiday ads? Make sure the credit cards linked to ad accounts don't expire 2 days before Black Friday. Do you use a 3rd party app like Later to automatically publish your posts? Make sure that each account has a "refreshed" connection before sitting down at the Christmas dinner table.

#3: Create An Instagram Highlight For User-Generated Content

Encourage current and new customers to post about their product (perhaps give an incentive) and reshare/save content to new highlight. Not only does this provide valuable social proof, which encourages others to buy, but it also adds to your content library to share at a later time if you wish.

#4: Partner With A Local Business

If you have a brick and mortar location, the holidays are a great time to partner with another local business. For example, you could work together to support a local charity or host a Christmas giveaway that builds brand awareness for both businesses. If your business is online, you can still partner with other brands in the form of virtual shopping events and giveaways!

#5: Keep Posting Valuable Content

While the holidays are an important time to showcase your offers, remember to not make every single post about your sales. Take a step back and think about how many other ads they are seeing on social media right now. How can you create content that entertains and/or inspires without it feeling like a used-car sales ad?

Trust us when we say that if you’ve been providing valuable content for your audience on a consistent basis, they will remember you when it comes time to buy.
